Types of online games available

Online casinos, while still relatively new to the world of gambling, have been around long enough for most people to have a basic idea of what you get when you log on to play. What most people may not really understand is the amazing number of games that are available to players. Platinum Play, using the incredible Microgaming software, leads the way in the number and quality of games, and it may come of something of a surprise many gamblers who have yet to make the online leap.

As you might expect, there are hundreds of different slot machines to choose from, including 3-reel pub slots, 5-reel video slots with amazing bonus games and jackpots, and of course those incredible progressive slots offering life changing money should you hit the jackpot. There are also the ever popular video poker games, with a bunch of different versions to choose from. All the best known table games are also available at Platinum play, with blackjack, roulette, baccarat and craps all on offer.

Platinum Play also has its own poker and bingo portals, where fans of those games can go to play 24/7, without ever having to wait for a new game to start. These are all games that you would expect to find in any casino, but there are also a few that may come as a very pleasant surprise.

You can get your keno fill on PP, and if you only have a short time to play, then why not go with a couple of scratch cards, with a chance to win some real quick money. Perhaps the most exciting of those alternative games are the International Blackjack and Slots Leagues, where you can match your skills against other Platinum Play players from all over the world.

While many of these games may not be that familiar to many players, PP gives you the chance to get to know them all by offering the ability to play for fun. It’s how I learned to play the games that I didn’t know very well, but if you just want to jump in and play for real, then it’s clear to see that there are plenty of exciting ways to do so.

Best roulette strategy

There are a couple of casino games that always seem to draw a crowd at the tables. Craps is one, and the other is roulette; both of them offer a level of excitement that is hard to match. Roulette is especially exciting, and I have even had times when my friends gather round the computer when I am playing at Platinum Play. There is just something a little mesmerizing about that little white ball spinning around the wheel and waiting to drop, and the tension is absolutely palpable.

The completely unpredictable nature of the game makes it prone to long streaks of both winning and losing, and the most common thing that players want to know is if there is a way to be successful at roulette in the long run. It’s impossible to predict where the ball is going to land, and while a number of strategies require using some sort of progressive betting system, you can actually improve your odds of winning by simply making some smart choices when you play.

The first tip is to play at a European roulette table if you can, because in most cases the odds of winning there, as opposed to an American table, are 2 to 1. That then leads to money management, and where many people get caught up in the excitement of the game and drop huge bets, it’s smarter to stick to the table minimum, as doing so increases your chances of winning over an extended period.

Another thing that people get sucked into is betting on single numbers, and although they offer the best odds, the chance of hitting on a regular basis is slim to none. Sticking to wagers that have a one to one payout will hit more often, and increase the chances of you padding your bankroll. Roulette is an amazingly fun game, and if you bet smartly, you can have some success over the long haul.

The different kinds of roulette

Anyone who loves gambling will instantly recognize the sound of that little white ball rattling around the numbers on a roulette wheel. It may be the most suspenseful of any of the casino games, with everyone involved holding their collective breaths, just waiting for that ball to stop rattling around and hopefully land on their number or colour.

While most people wouldn’t be surprised to learn that roulette has been around since the 18th century, they probably would be surprised when they find out that there is actually more than one version of the game currently being played in casinos around the world. The subtle changes to the original version most likely took place as its popularity spread to different parts of the globe, with the changes put in to fall more in line with the gambling preferences of each region.

French roulette is the oldest version of the game, and the wheel is made up of the same configuration as European roulette, but the playing field is slightly different on the French version. Both of these versions are sometimes referred to as single zero roulette as the wheel consists of numbers 1 through 36 plus a single 0.
American roulette has the same playing field as the European version, but the wheel has a total of 38 numbers with the standard 0 and 1 through 36, but also has a 00, which sometimes earns it the name of double zero roulette.

There are a number of different special rules, all with rather pleasant sounding French names like En Prison and La Partage which are played in different parts of the world, but the biggest difference between European and American roulette may be in how players are expected to dress at the table, with the European version expecting their players to dress up somewhat, as opposed to the casual US style. No such clothing rules exist at Platinum Play, and players can even watch the wheel spin in their pyjamas if that’s what they feel like.

You can enjoy European, American and French roulette at Platinum Play Online Casino.

Land-based Luck Down Under: the Casinos of Oz

Casino night time in Sydney, Australia

Australians sure love their pokies, and some of the best places to enjoy these reel-spinning games is at the most memorable and well-known casinos Down Under. Some of these places have existed for several decades, while others are married into resorts and hotel complexes. All the same, its a place where the folks of Oz bring their gambling game.

The first legal Australian casino

Australia’s first fully legal gambling establishment was the Wrest Point Hotel, in 1939, and is located in Hobart, Tasmania. Originally placed at the site of the Wrest Point Riviera Hotel, the casino opened its doors in the 1960s,  after the hotel itself was bought by the Federal Hotels group in 1956. What makes this casino such a legendary place is because of the impact it had on Tasmanian economy. Some other interesting points include:

  • The original hotel building was built by Arthur Drydale in 1939.
  • John Haddad, a member of the Federal Hotels group, obtained the licence to open an operate a casino in the hotel complex in the 60s.
  • The hotel tower is 17 storeys tall – still the tallest structure in the city of Hobart – and contains a revolving restaurant which was designed by architect Sir Roy Grounds.
  • When the full casino complex opened in 1973, it kick-started the island’s casino industry, with 12 other land-based casinos opening in the decades to follow.
  • State tourism and industry achieved a massive economic boom after Wrest Point Hotel Casino opened, which was exactly what management expected to happen.
  • A conference centre was opened in 1984, and a boardwalk in 1996.

Despite this, it was expanded several times since its opening.
