Earning big money in the music industry is all good and well, and having a heap of fans is also something to be proud of. There are plenty of women who sing beautifully and have hordes of fans, but not all of them are rolling in the dosh.
Take a look at the list of the top female earners in music industry over the course of last year, 2018, and revel in awe at the women who are raking in big bucks for their singing talents.
1. Katy Perry
You won’t get many arguing that Katy Perry was front and centre in 2018, working hard and earning an incredible amount of money in the process. Her Witness: The Tour live production had 80 shows over 2018, which in itself was a smash hit in terms of cash in the bank. It is reported that each show pulled in over $1 million. That in itself would have been enough to put Perry at the top of the list. But she also managed to be a judge on American Idol, which put an additional $20 million in her bank account.
2. Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift was almost number 1, but for the fact that many of the dates of her Reputation Stadium Tour, were beyond the scoring period of this list. Regardless, her new album, also titled Reputation, flew off the shelves, selling two million copies in a single week. Her earnings sit at around $80 million.
Beyoncé is at number 3, with earnings of around $60 million. Many will say she had a less than active year, at least in terms of what she normally delivers, which is likely due to her adorable twins Rumi and Sir still being so young. Still, she released an album with husband Jay-Z, and delivered a memorable performance at both Coachella and the Global Citizen concert.
Some feel Pink has fallen out of the mainstream, but this has simply solidified her reputation with fans as a true outsider. It certainly hasn’t stopped her earning $52 million, due mostly to her on going Beautiful Trauma tour across the United States.
5. Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga has around $50 million in her bank from 2018, which is partly thanks to a critically acclaimed role in the film A Star Is Born, but also due to 66 live shows, and a brand deal with Versace. Don’t forget her own fragrance, Fame, which not only smells good, it sells well too.

6. Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez, earning $47 million, takes diversification seriously. She released a new album aptly titled Dinero, as well as having a number of lucrative endorsements and a few television shows, World of Dance among them.
Rihanna stands out from the rest, given that she hasn’t been on tour since 2016. Bewildering perhaps, but she still managed to rake in $37.5 million. The earnings came almost exclusively from Savage Lingerie and Fenty Beauty products.
8. Helene Fischer
Perhaps a surprise name on the list, given that all the others are American, Fischer is a European star that managed to make her way into the top 10. With $32 million in her pocket, it is almost all thanks to an incredible, groundbreaking tour that pulled in a great deal more than anticipated.
9. Celine Dion
Celine Dion managed $31 million, which is thanks to a rock solid fan base in Las Vegas that can easily net her a half a million dollars a night, and also to a European tour that bulked up her usual earnings a great deal.
10. Britney Spears
Many may be surprised to see Spears on the list, given that she has largely fallen out of the mainstream since her early career. However, Spears is not just a big earner, she’s one of the biggest. She likewise has a strong fan base in Vegas, and has multiple brand deals with big names such as Pepsi and Elizabeth Arden. 2018 saw her rake in around $30 million, but now, her 2019 earnings could take a hit, as she’s recently cancelled her Vegas tour due to her father’s ill health. Either way, good old Brit-Brit won’t be flipping burgers to make rent any time soon!
