The way we interact with our computers is all about to change thanks to Leap.
Leap is hardware that will bypass the standard tools we have used to control our computers for so long. This revolutionary hardware has accurate motion control so that your hands are all you need to use it. It’s the size of an iPod and 100 times more accurate than any other similar product on the market.
Leap Motion recently demonstrated its Leap 3D motion control system that is able to track motion to an accuracy of 0.01mm. This is 100 times more accurate than Kinect. Leap Motion developed a 3D work space of roughly four cubic feet. It has a small USB device that has sensors and cameras that work with the company’s software to track a number of objects simultaneously and to recognize gestures.
In the demonstration the Leap designers used a single finger to show of the OS navigation and web browsing. There is also the ability to write, pinch-to-zoom, precision draw, 3D model and game with this control system. The system can also identify and track objects in hands.
Leap Motion is a startup but is not lacking in funding. The system should launch in early 2013 for $69.99. Leap will be compatible with Windows and Mac OS X.
