Basic Punto Banco Gameplay
Most card-based casino games are available in several variations, and Baccarat is no different. Despite this, the only gameplay you need to know is played according to Punto Banco rules.
The variation gets its name from the 2 hands in play, which are the Player or Punto, and the Banker or Banco. A hand needs a score as close as possible to 9 points to win.
In these table games, moves are determined by scores. All you need to do is bet on the hand you think will win, or on both to tie. 2 cards will be dealt to the Player, and 2 to the Banker. If the Player scores 5 or less, they must Hit and take another card. If they score 6 or higher, they must Stand. Any Hits made by the Banker are determined by scores and by the value of any additional card taken by the Player. When the required Hits have been made, the hands are compared, and the winner is revealed.
Baccarat Scores and Payouts
The Baccarat casino games available at Platinum Play all use the same system of scoring, and the same way of calculating online betting NZ payouts.
Aces are counted as 1 point, and cards 2 to 9 are counted as their given values. 10s and the royal cards are worth 0. If an initial score is 10 or higher, the 10-unit is ignored. For example, a hand of cards numbered 3 and 9 is a score of 12, which reduces further to a score of 2. If, after all the numbers have been crunched, your bet on the Player turns out to be a winner, you will be paid out 1:1. If you placed a winning Banker bet instead, you will be paid 1:1 less 5% commission. If your winning bet was that the Player and Banker would tie, you will receive a lavish payout of 8:1!
